131 - Transcript of indenture witnessed by Thomas Nevill, Master of Trinity, conveying land owned by the college for the purpose of erecting a new college to be endowed by the late Frances, Countess of Sussex. [The site at the new college, later to be named Sidney Sussex, was then occupied by the dissolved Franciscan house of Grey Friars. See Mullinger II, 357-59.] From MS Harley 4115, p. 10.

145 - Transcript of letter from Lord Burghley to the vice-chancellor, heads, proctors, and taxors at the university explaining that it is not his duty to favour that liberties at the expense of those of the mayor and townsmen and appending selection of those complaints sent to him which needed remedying in 'a charitable and peaceable manner'. 157 - Transcript of a complaint by the vice-chancellor and heads of colleges against mayor John Sherwood and four chandlers, namely Edward Almond, John Ball, Jonas Scott and Thomas Oliver, for infringing the liberties of the University. See Cooper, Annals, ii, 214-16.
161 - Copy of a letter from the mayor and others of Maidstone on behalf of William Laurymer who claimed booths at Stourbridge Fair by descent from Johane Smith, his aunt.
181 - Copy of an appeal by William Towers to Thomas Greene, visitor of Christ's College, against a decision of the master and fellows of that college to turn him out of his fellowship on the grounds that he had been left an estate. The action is described by Towers as 'arbitrary' and 'illegal'. The appeal was successful and Towers went on to become master at Christ's.
185 - Letter from the fellows of Christ's College appealing against the recent decision of the master to make Mr Boldens 'President' against their wishes. They wish for the ambiguities in the Statute concerning this point to be cleared up.
189 - An 'Account of a Spirit in Cambridge Castle'. A prisoner 'lodged' in Cambridge Castle in 1717, S. Ockley, heard tapping and 'strange noises' at night.
191 - S. Ockley's letter to Dr Keith about the ghost. He mentions this letter in document in CITY/PB/31/page189 as written when the experience was 'fresh in his memory'. The ghost is troublesome by day and night, even Magh 'in this distressing age' such views are seen as 'mere chimeras'. It leaps about like a cat and makes a noise like thunder or a cannon.
193 - S. Ockley replies to Dr Keith's letter (not here). He repeats the story of his experiences outlined in document in CITY/PB/31/page189. He followed Dr Keith's advice to remember 'the Father and Spirit' and his Son Jesus Christ and 'A Week's more such exersize would reduce me to a very bad condition'. [Ascension Day, 1718].
195 - S. Ockley, now at Swavesey, finds that the spirit has not left him. He checks the house for the source of the noise with which he is troubled.
197 - A letter from Dr Keith in London to 'the Rev'd Mr Ockley, Arabic Professor in Cambridge'. Dr Keith is pleased to hear by a letter of October 31 that S. Ockley is much better, 'easy and cheerful', and that he should take care to eat well. Dr Keith sends apologies for not visiting. He mentions that the three transcriptions (above) that he has made have been sent with his letter (actually there are four). They are to be sent on to a mutual friend Lord Harley.
199 - Letter to the Bishop of Lincoln from Joseph Craven of Sidney College concerning the ejection of the late master over religious differences.
205 - Letter over the dispute whether the Crown of the Bishop of Ely is the visitor of 'the College'. The royal right is upheld. This letter is to the Bishop.
209 - Extract from an Act of Parliament of 1769 for repairing the roads around Cambridge.
213 - Letter from Duke of Beaufort to the mayor saying that the address was presented to the King.
217 - Lord Sydney's letter to the mayor saying that the address was presented to the King.
221 - Duke of Beaufort stating that the Lord Sydney had laid the address before the King.
225 - Petition from the inhabitants of St Peter's and St Gile's to the corporation requesting them to move dunghills.
227 - The town clerk's account of raising of money towards the maintenance of the Royal Navy.
231 - Justices order to pay £35 to the treasurer for the defence of the county.
231 - Letter of justice requesting St Andrew the Great parish to pay £35 to the treasury and certificate sent by the churchwardens in reply concerning naval service.
233 - Notice from Pemberton, clerk of the peace for Cambridgeshire to the effect that money has been raised for the families of militiamen.
237 - Letter of resignation from the Duke of Beaufort to the mayor, giving up his position as recorder since the Duke of Rutland is of age.
243 - Entitled: 'A Table of Fees, Rules and Orders for the Better Government of the [County] Gaol at Cambridge. [cf Q/SO8, pp. 450-55].
247 - Presentment of Richard Kidman for breaking and entering King's College Chapel.
251 - Presentment of William Grimshaw on a charge of burglary.
