3 - Copy letter addressed only 'Dear Sir' with possible reason for telephone fault at Hereford and demanding it is corrected.
4-8 - Correspondence with the Central Medical War Committee, 429 Strand, London regarding Pendrill Varrier-Jones' enrolment for War Service as a commissioned officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps with letter from Frank Robinson, County Medical Officer of Health, Cambridge, questioning whether a replacement could be found and copy of Army Council instruction No. 385 of 1916 about the procedure for medical practitioners to register for the Royal Army Medical Corps, to avoid conscription as ordinary combatants.
9 - Copy letter to the District Manager, Great Eastern Railway, Cambridge returning unused ticket and requesting refund.
10 - Copy letter to C. Good, The Lancet Offices, London requesting that they send offprints of article on the After Care (see above 1383/6/3).
11 - Copy letter to the Surveyor of Taxes, [Hobson] Street, to deduct £200 travelling expenses from £700 taxable income as Tuberculosis Officer.
12-16 - Correspondence with Jolley and Sons, 33 Bridge Street, Cambridge about payment for furniture, Varrier-Jones questioning the price of a screen and refusing to pay for carriage.
17 - Copy letter to Canon Douglas, Cheveley, asking for suggestion of home a boy, aged 17, could be sent for four weeks at Christmas.
18 - Sir R. L. Morant, National Health Insurance Commission, hoping to see article that [Varrier-Jones] has written, and noting that he is keeping an eye on the question of his military service 'but it is getting difficult'.
19-22 - Correspondence with Miss V. Baber Mimpriss, Sunny Nook, Carson Road, West Dulwich about problems obtaining the frame for a miniature and Varrier-Jones' disappointment with his likeness.
23 - Dorothy V. Shilton, 93-94 Chancery Lane, London sending a description of a crest [of the Jones family - see below /52] and acknowledging payment.
24 - Copy letter to Charlesworth Bros, Coach Builders, Coventry from [private secretary] requesting they send a 'brass covered with a black shell' handle to match those fitted to a Sunbeam car purchased 1913. (see also 1383/8/1/1/214).
25 - Copy letter to the Secretary, G.P.O., London, stating that an account was paid and a receipt received for it. Also informing that notice has been given to discontinue the telephone at Hereford, as it is extremely problematic.
26 - Copy letter to The Secretary, Automobile Association and M.U, London enclosing membership application.
27-30 - Letters from Sir R. L. Morant, National Health Insurance Commission, about a meeting with the Approved Societies, his drafting of a letter 'G[eorge] N[ewman]', and the idea that the Ministry will use Varrier-Jones to visit different sanatoria. Also about a 'shock for Mrs Dimsdale' and whether Varrier-Jones will put up [son] Basil for a night on his bicycle tour of Papworth. Also inviting Varrier-Jones arranges to a 'private chat' when he is in London to give a talk, but regretting his inability to attend the talk or offer him accommodation.
31 - Copy letter to Hon. Secretary, Caravan Club, 28 Charing Cross Road, London about an advertisement of a motor caravan for sale, asking where this caravan can be seen and requesting details and price.
32 - A. Hall, Board of Agriculture and Fisheries, informing that the Board's permission is not needed to move a dog from Cambridge to Hereford, unless via London.
33-39 - Draft and copy letter addressed only 'Dear Sir' about the suggestion that [Varrier-Jones] should undertake to occasionally visit Sanatoria or other Institutions under consideration for development as training centres or village settlements. Noting that he is reluctant to accept an official position, due to wishing to retain freedom to experiment and concerned that it may limit his plans and activities, preferring instead to be a consultant on the development of similar Colonies and Village Settlements, but warning that he may not always take the official line and suggesting a trial run [relates to letter /27-30]
40 - C. R. Fordham, Melbourn Bury, [Melbourn], apologising for any offence caused by asking about how accounts were checked, explaining none was intended.
41 - Manuscript draft letter by Varrier-Jones, to Mrs Dimsdale about a meeting of a Finance Committee showing that radical change in the management of the Colony 'must take place' and finding his position of County Tuberculosis Officer and foreman of the colony untenable unless an agreement is reached, as he is not willing to accept responsibility for things he was forced into doing.
42 - Sir Clifford Allbutt, St. Radegunds, Cambridge, in relief that Varrier-Jones is not considering leaving Papworth, and seeing no problems with Varrier-Jones taking on Ministry of Health work alongside Papworth, suggesting that payment is not done per visit however, as this would become very complex.
43 - Copy letter to The Times Insurance Department, informing them of his change of newsagent.
44 - Copy letter to The Palmer Tyre Co., Shaftesbury Avenue, London, from private secretary, informing that their offer is not accepted, and that there can have been no confusion of tyres as suggested.
45-47 - Correspondence with Sub-Manager, Models (Leicester) Ltd, Factory Street, Loughborough, about panels required for the inside of a caravan.
48 - Part of letter from Sir C. Allbutt, Cambridge, about death of Sir G. Sims Woodhead and acknowledging how close Varrier-Jones was to him.

55 - Copy letter to Laurie and McConnal Ltd, Cambridge from Business Manager asking that invoice for a folding lavatory basin be sent to Maddox, body [i.e. coach] builders, Huntingdon as it was ordered for Varrier-Jones' motor caravan. Also asking them to provide a quotation for taps.
56 - Copy letter to Varrier-Jones, Bryntirion, Hereford [from personal secretary] requesting he provide details of a claim for damage to a caravan.
