TitleVisit of Her Royal Highness Princess Mary, Viscountess Lascelles, to the Papworth Village Settlement
DescriptionThe Princess had first visited the Papworth Settlement in 1918, and in June 1927 she paid her second visit. The Hunts Post of the 30th June 1927 carried a full page report (p.7) of the visit, with six accompanying photographs. On this visit the Princess opened the new headquarters of the Papworth Everard Company of Girl Guides and the 6th Cambs District troop of Boy Scouts and Wolf Cubs.
This photograph (or one very similar) was on p. 6 of the same edition of the Hunts Post. The Princess is surrounded by a group which includes Dr Pendrill. Varrier-Jones and Matron Borne, as well as a lady and gentleman in guide and scout uniforms. The caption under the photograph in the paper reads "The above group was photographed shortly before the departure of Princess Mary from Papworth on Tuesday. Her Royal Highness is in the centre of the front row, with Sir Fredk. Milner on her right. Others in the group will be recognised by a reference to the lists of those present, given in our report on another page."
