TitleDe Havilland Aircraft and members of 117 Squadron
DescriptionThe original description of this image was "Members of 42 Squadron pose beside their De Havilland 9 aircraft at Wyton Camp". However, it is now thought that this aircrew were members of 117 Squadron, which reformed at Norwich on the 7th October 1918 and moved to Wyton on the 30th November 1918. The Squadron then moved to Hooton Park on the 28th March 1919 (details from the Air Britain DH4/DH9 file). The aircraft is an Airco DH9, serial number H42??, but 42 Squadron did not use this aircraft.
Wyton camp opened in 1916, and the Maddison and Hinde order book records that a photograph of a Royal Air Force (Wyton) group was taken in 1918.
