TitleSt Ives Brass Band
DescriptionThis image was originally catalogued as the St Ives Brass band playing at an unidentified outside venue. However, the Cambridge Independent Press of Friday 15th July 1898 reported that a promenade concert and dance had been held in the grounds of The Priory in St Ives (with the permission of Mr F Warren) in connection with the Liberal Club. "There was a good attendance, and an enjoyable evening was spent. The garden and lawn were nicely decorated with lanterns etc. The Huntingdon Glee Class [see WH1/259A-C] was present, under the directorship of Mr F Clarke, and rendered four glees, which added to the interest and enjoyment of those present. The St Ives Brass Band provided the music for the dancing." This image is undated, but could it be of the band playing at this promenade concert in July 1898?
