DescriptionBody to be buried in Sawston Church by Anne, his first wife. Charitable bequests to poor of Duxford and Great Shelford, to the town of Pampisford and Hempstead, Essex. Bequests to John Grene, Edmonde Huddelston, his godson and heir apparent, Sir John Huddilston, knight, Philip Mordante, gentleman, son of Robert Mordante, William Tailor and John Dale, clerks; lease of Sawston parsonage to Joice, his wife. Bequest to Alice Mordante and Mary Hamonde. Residue to his wife. Executors: Robert Mordant and George Frevell, Esqs. Lands bought of Master Crawley, gentleman, in Great Shelford, to Joice, his wife, for life, then to Philip Mordante for life, then to John Mordant, his eldest son; lands etc. in Duxford to his wife for life, then to Henry Mordante, son of Edmonde Mordante, Esq; lands etc. in Sawston, except Huntingdons Manor, to Joice, his wife, for life, provided she sows two acres in Lentonfelde each year with white peas and gives one comb of peas from each acre to the poor and gives £4 at Christmas to the poor of Sawston; after her death the lands in Sawston, puchased of the King, called Obit Lands, to the owner of Huntingdons Manor, provided he sows two acres etc. (as above), failing which to the churchwardens upon like condition; and, after death of his wife, Sawstons lands, Swet lands, Pott lands and other lands in Sawston to persons appointed by executors on trust to give to the poor of Sawston £8 at Christmas and Easter each year; and, after death of his wife, house and lands that came from his mother to Roberte Campion. Witnesses: Robert Mordante, George Frevill, James Bedyll, John Dale, clerk 4 August 1554 Codicil to the above: bequests to Johane Watson, the children of Master Roberte Mordante, Esq., Robert Bradbury, William Grene, his godson, Alice Lockton, his niece. Lands in Swaffham Bulbeck, given by Master Warde, his uncle, to be entered upon, since the condition is broken, and to be sold, and the proceeds to Snailwell, Duxford and Swaffham Bulbeck to pray for his father, mother etc. 11 August 1554 Proved before Dean and Chapter of Canterbury (sede vacante) 27 January 1554/5
