DescriptionBundle of 10 Memoranda of surrenders of holdings (copyhold) by customary tenants, together with one copy of the Court Roll, including the following. 'Memorandum that I John Cawthorne a customary tenant of this Manor doe surrender to the hands of the lorde by the handes of William Smyth and Antony Slow two customary tenants of this Manner one 'pightle' containing by estimation half a rood of pasture more or lesse and comon for one COW, to Joanna Alphery, the wife of Mikepher Alphery according to the customs of this Manner, and her heires for ever upon which there is a tenement built with the consent of the Lorde. Fine 20 shillings (remitt) Rent xiid Mikepher Alphery was the Russian Vicar of Woolley who was dispossessed of his encumbancy at the time of the Commonwealth, but continued to live in the Parish, from this it appears that the Manor court of which the Lord was John Bedell (afterwards a Baronet), and John Cawthorne one of the 'Homage' or jury granted to Mrs. Alphery a plot of land.
