DescriptionFrom the will of Jonathan Martin of Upwood, yeoman. To his daughter, Mary Seaton, wife of Edward Seaton, his copyhold house in Upwood, in which Seaton now lives, the same being part of the lands etc., purchased by him of Hugh Bonfoy Esq., and Ann Wheatly, spinster, to hold for life and after her death, to his grandaughter, Mary Seaton, younger daughter of Mary and Edward. To his eldest son, William Martin, all the rest of the lands etc., purchased of Bonfoy and Miss Wheatly. To his son, Thomas Boucher Martin, all his lands etc., in Upwood purchased of John Bosquain, subject to the payment of an annuity of £10 to his wife, Judith. To his grandson, Stephen Martin, all his lands etc., purchased of Helen Smith, Mary Lamprey, John Spring, Nicholas Everson and Catherine, his wife and Elizabeth Neivill, subject to the payment of an annuity of £4 to his wife for her life, and then to an annuity of £6 to his daughter-in-law, Judith Martin, widow of his late son, Stephen Martin.
