A railway commencing by a junction with the Bedford and Cambridge section London and North Western Railway near Long Road Bridge, Trumpington and terminating by a junction with the Railway number 1. Railway number 3. Commencing in Earl's Colne (county Essex) by a junction with the Colne Valley Railway and terminating in the parish of East Mersea (county Essex) at the quay to be built on the East side of Mersea Island at the estuary of the River Colne. Passing through the following parishes: Railway number 1. Trumpington, Cherryhinton, Great Shelford, Fulbourn, Balsham, West Wratting, West Wickham, (all in county Cambridgeshire); Withersfield and Haverhill (county Suffolk). Railway number 2. Trumpington (county Cambridgeshire). Railway number 3. Colne Engaine, Earl's Colne, Great Tey, Chappel, Aldham, Fordham, Copford, Stanway, Lexden, St Mary at the Walls, St Runwald (detached), St Botolph (detached) St Giles, Holy Trinity, Berechurch (all in Colchester) Layer-de-la-Haye, Peldon, Abberton, West Mersea, East Mersea (all in county Essex).
