DescriptionSir Alan Cobham (1894-1973) was an aviation pioneer. He served in the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War, and in 1932 he started National Aviation Day displays with up to fourteen aircraft. He toured the country as "Cobham's Flying Circus" until the end of the 1935 season. This image shows Cobham talking to one of his staff as planes fly overhead. The Hunts Post of the 18th May 1933 carried a picture of Sir Alan Cobham with his wife, two sons and their dog having a picnic, and mentions that he is to give an air display at Wyton on the 30th May.
