DescriptionDavid Renton stands on the Town Hall balcony beside his wife, accompanied by his election agent, Mr AL Stephens, while Mr JB Kelly reads out the poll results which returned David Renton to Parliament. The defeated Labour candidate, Mr Frank Macdonald, and his agent, Mr E Collinson, stand on the right of the group. See the Hunts Post of the 1 November 1951 for a similar image, and of David Renton being carried shoulder high to the George Hotel afterwards
