Description | Fletcher's meat store was situated at 132 High Street, and is listed in the 1906 trade directory as W & R Fletcher Ltd., butchers. The left hand window proclaims that W & R Fletcher is a Colonial and American Fresh Meat Stores, while the notice above the door reads that the shop sells prime grass-fed lamb. Steak cost 8d, and there are a variety of prices on the meat hanging in the window, from 2d to 6d. Note also the young delivery boy with his bicycle, and his basket full of meat wrapped in paper with Fletcher's receipts attached. Ernest Whitney has written on the print "Note prices!
