TitleBill in Chancery: Thomas Hobson and others (as in P50/28/10) on behalf of all the inhabitants of Cottenham requesting that John Manby, rector, be brought to Court so that the inhabitants can continue their "peaceable useing and ordereing of the commons"
DescriptionThe sequence of events from the time of the 1583 Articles of Agreement with Sir Francis Hind is described, including the various controversies and renewed articles. Then (folio 22) the articles which specifically concern the rector are recited (articles 3, 23 and 26) and the rectors who have observed these are named through to the present rector, John Manby. It is claimed that although he observed the Articles for seven years, he now refuses to observe them, claiming that the Articles never existed, (the original copy having been destroyed by fire), threatening to sue the town officers and suing the inhabitants at Common Law
