DescriptionMostly relating to the management Bernard's estates in Huntingdonshire, Essex, Staffordshire and Northamptonshire. On subjects such as the sale of timber, brick works at Hartford, wages for labourers, livestock, repairs, oyster catching [at Hadleigh], inclosure, tenants, sale of lands, tree planting, the Ellington turnpike gate, elections at Huntingdon, complaints about the amount of meadowing by tenants, payment of taxes, provision of venison for the races at Bedford etc.

Also includes several gossipy letters from Hodgson's former colleagues and friends in Yorkshire and London and from his brother Caleb and sister Ann with family news and an account of their father's death and funeral [mostly Hellifield, Catterick and Marske in Yorkshire].
