TitleLetter to Charles Smith, agent, from J. Griggs, Messing [Essex]
DescriptionPossibly concerning arrears in land tax. The Bishop redeemed his from Chrismas 1799 but owing to a mistake the tenants have had no power to refuse paying as usual for the next three quarters of a year. Sine Michaelmas 1800 the tenants have been paying direct to him and he has lodged the money with Goslings. Mr Sparrow desired him to inform Green, the tenant of Grange Farm, that he would receive notice to quit. He has taken steps to get arrears from Knight. Includes rough timber accounts.
