| Title | Extract from a letter to Lady Olivia Bernard Sparrow, from Mr Christmas, Abbotsford, Picton [Australia] |
| Description | Copied in her own handwriting. Concerning her grandson, Lord Frederick, who has been staying at Christmas's father's house but is now in Sydney and has been dangerously ill. Mrs Johnson looks after him. He has been badly treated because he would not make himself "one of the half-educated, vulgar minded set, which out here for the most part constitutes society." Frederick is trying hard to reform and has stopped taking stimulants in too great a quantity. They are in such a retired location that there are few opportunities to indulge. Three copies, all incomplete. |
