TitleLetter from William Monck Mason, Paris, to the Duke of Manchester
DescriptionPleased the Duke is content with his purchases, regrets not obtaining the publicatons of [Andreas] Birch 'Quatuor evangelia Græce' the Bible in Greek and 'Variae Lectiones Ad Textum Act. App. Epp.' Wasn't aware Duke wanted them so anxiously, fruitless to try and buy the same copies that were bough by private individuals and sold them too high for private booksellers. Could procure a copy before other parts of the collection are sold which will be about October. Will send the Duke the other parts of the catalogue when it is published. Transmits comissions to Madame Heneaux, a widow the bookseller Mason used to employ. If his Graces makes the orders to him, he will in turn arrange it with her. Thanks Duchess for her kind remembrance of him and his relatives. The Duchess did not comment on her own health but believes she is more well than unwell. Asks the Duke to leave the books with him and he'll transmit them to London. Enclosed with the letter is an account of comissioned publications for Lord Viscount Mandeville from 20th April to 8th May.
