DescriptionSending for information and guidance a copy of a Circular Letter issued by the War Office to Officers Commanding Regiments of the Line. Enclosed: Circular No. 1140. 10th April, 1853 Calling attention to the alteration made in the 57th Clause of the Mutiny Act (of 1853). This deals with the punishment to be imposed on Militia Men who deny that they are Militia Men and enlist in Regiments of the Line.
