TitleLetter; R. Walter, Portsmouth, to 4th Earl of Sandwich.
DescriptionDiscusses his late brother's estate at Staughton. His brother also purchased a small copyhold under the Manor of Gains, and he supposes that this is now possessed by Mr. Watson, the widow's second husband. Does not know whether Watson has freed this copyhold or purchased any freehold. Wonders whether the Earl could secure for him a living near Staughton. If the Earl could, he, Walter, would be able to establish an interest and weight with the freeholders on behalf of the Earl's family and connections. Attached: Copy of Probate Will of Arthur Walter of Great Staughton, gent. (The will was made on 27th August, 1758, and proved at London on 28th April, 1761).
