DescriptionAll those messuages etc. in Midgham, Thatcham, Woolhampton, Madfield, Bucklebury, Aldermaston, Englefield, and Burghfield in the co. Berkshire which were part of the estate of Rt. Hon. Stephen Poyntz Esq., deceased, father of the above William Poyntz, and which by indentures of Lease and Release (2nd-3rd December, 1756) were, with other manors, messuages etc, conveyed to 2., and by indentures of Lease and Release (16th-17th May, 1756) were conveyed by 2 to 1. Endorsed: Surrender of the remainder of a term of years. 25th June, 1768 1. John Lord Viscount now Earl Spencer. 2. William Poyntz and Thomas Parker. Recites: 1. Intention of William Poyntz to sell that part of the land for the sum of £5,000 and to mortgage part for securing the sum of £2,000; both of which sums are to be paid to 1. in part discharge of the mortgage for £17,500 2. Agreement of 1. to surrender to 2. to enable the above transactions to take place and then to accept a mortgage of the residue of the premises (subject to one annuity of £400/year payable out of the residue to Michael Hillersdon, Esq., during his life) for securing the remainder of £17,500.
