Title | Letter; Hugh Ferrar, Godmanchester, to 4th Earl of Sandwich. |
Description | Col. Clarke opposed the decisions regarding a Workhouse because he could not have the whole management of it himself. Only nine persons in the town have failed to sign, and Clarke is so disconcerted by this resolution of the inhabitants that he has been with the Duke of Manchester for the purpose of hindering the subscription. Clarke has also tried unsuccessfully to get a Meeting of the Commissioners of the Somersham Turnpike to inspect the Treasurer's Accounts. |
