DescriptionStates that Huntingdonshire has already by the investigation it instigated in 1850, rendered a greater service than any other county in England to the cause of the Protestant Church, both in England and the Empire. The Catholic bishops are now attacking the Church of Ireland and the property of the Irish landlords and forcing the Irish Catholics to vote the way they are told. Now begs Lord Sandwich to convene a public meeting in the town hall for the purpose of petitioning both Houses of Parliament for committees to investigate the canon law of Rome that was set up in Ireland in 1832 and in the whole Empire in 1850. Hopes that if this is done, other counties and cities will follow the example of Huntingdonshire. Enclosed: Resolutions passed at a Meeting of the Nobleman, Clergymen and Gentry of Huntingdonshire. 7th January, 1853 The resolutions refer to the requisition of the Vice Chancellor of Cambridge, that he would be pleased to cause an investigation to be made of documents relative to the Papacy deposited in the University Library, signed in 1850 at the County Meeting on the occasion of the Papal Aggression.
