Title | Letter; George Frederick Maule, Town Clerk, Huntingdon, to Lady Sandwich. |
Description | In the recent time of political trial, many professed friends of the Sandwich interest have deserted, but there are still many sincere supporters of "that interest from which most persons in Huntingdon have derived such essential benefits." It is on behalf of the latter that he begs her not to desert the town in the present emergency. The office of mayor is vacant because of the death of Mr. Dobyns and must be filled, and a change in the number of MP's elected by the borough is being considered by the government. |
