DescriptionThanks Lord Sandwich for offer to mediate between the Corporation of Godmanchester and himself. Serious damage is being caused to the Navigation by the opening of the locks and it is costing much money to repair it. Has expended large sums over the past two years in restoring the Navigation between St. Ives and Bedford, but has had little encouragement from the local authorities etc. of the areas benefited. The Corporation of Godmanchester has been especially hostile. The formation of the Navigation has not in any way aggravated the effect of the floods.
