TitleDeposition: John Reynolds accused of aggravated assault on a boy of 5 or 6 years, William Bolton, the child (illegitimate) of his wife Catherine.
DescriptionEvidence by neighbours of Reynolds, smashing the boy against the ground, threatening to murder him (I would nip him in the windpipe and put him in a barn and people would think he had fell in a fit). Evidence by the surgeon George Lonsdale Girling, St. Ives. The prisoner confessed to losing his temper and promised not to beat the child any more except with a cane.
