TitleAssignment of a mortgage and mortgage for securing £800 and interest
Description1. Edward Martin of Godmanchester, farmer. 2. Thomas Warner of St Ives, gentleman, devisee of the will of Robert Warner, deceased. 3. Potto Brown of Houghton, miller. Recites mortgage of 10 February 1816 [4670/25] between 1 and Robert Warner. Robert Warner defaulted on payment and has since died. By his will dated 23 May 1826, proved in the archdeaconry court of Huntingdon, Robert Warner devised to his son Thomas Warner the mortgaged properties. The principal sum now outstanding: £1600. Now 1 agrees to part-payment of £800, therefore 3 agrees to advance £800 to 2. 1 grants to 3. A freehold messuage in Hemingford Grey (3a) with garden and orchard, formerly occupied by James Everitt and Mr --- Watts. A freehold close of pasture (7a 3r) in Bush Field, Hemingford Grey, commonly known as Gore Close, occupied by Peter Cowling, then Robert Warner, and was late the estate of Sarah Martin, widow. Furthermore 2 grants to 3 for the better securing of the said £800. A freehold messuage and buildings now used as a pipe manufactory, formerly a wood house, and built on land in St Ives near the common pound and behind the estate late of Samuel Johnson known as the Globe Inn. Furthermore 2 grants to 3 for the better securing of the said £800. A copyhold messuage held of the Manor of St Ives with the Sleap and Burstellars in Merry Land, formerly occupied by John Rose, then Henry Hall, then Richard Watts, then Thomas Moore and now Mr --- Bays. 2 to pay £800 plus interest to 3 by 3 August next. Endorsed: ‘That this deed is covenanted by Mr. Charles Ibbott Warner to be produced to: Mr. George Emery the purchaser of Gore Close, Hemingford Grey, Mr. John Newman, the purchaser of the house and part of the orchard, Hemingford Grey, Mr. George Game Day, the purchaser of the house in Back Street, St Ives, Mr. John Giddins, the purchaser of part of the orchard, Hemingford Grey. 10 Jan. 1854’.
