TitleDeed or covenant for payment of an annuity, etc
Description1. John Arthur Hopkins of St Ives, auctioneer, and Jemima his wife. 2. Valentine Giddings of Earith, victualler, and Elizabeth his wife. Consideration: the payment of 8 shillings per week every Monday by 1 to 2. Recites a surrender bearing even date and a conditional surrender dated 31 January 1853 for securing the sum of £300 and interest to Susan Goodman. And that 1 has agreed to an absolute purchase from 2 of the below-mentioned properties. 1 has taken on the said mortgage sum of £300 to the said Susan Goodman, and also agrees to pay 8 shillings per week to 2 and allows them to occupy the cottage later described. Therefore 2 surrenders the following to the Manor of Somersham with the Soake. Parcel of pasture land (4 and a half acres) called the Milking Place in Earith, lying opposite to the Angel public house, late in the occupation of George Fletcher and to which 2 was admitted tenant at a special court by virtue of a bargain and sale under the will of Mr William Marson, deceased. Also a messuage occupied by George Fletcher and then by 2 and John Jackson. Also a cottage nearby occupied by Timothy Marriott. Also another cottage adjoining occupied by Joseph Humphrey. The above messuage and cottages were erected by 2 and are delineated in the margin plan. Now this indenture confirms that 1 agrees to pay the sum of 8 shillings per week to 2 while they occupy the said cottage.
