Historical note forming part of the particulars reads: "The house… was built in 1795 as the residence for the Governor of Norman Cross Prison Camp holding French troops taken during the Napoleonic wars. Although alterations were made to the structure in later years this semi-detached three-storey house still retains the characteristic elegance of the Georgian era."
