TitleLetter to Lord Robert Montagu from Lord Derby, Knowsley
DescriptionHe regrets that he cannot interfere in the way that Montagu has suggested. They can hardly be surprised that more zealous conservatives might seek a representative who is more supportive of their views, especially when some of the questions on which Montagu has taken a stance have caused dissatisfaction in the county. Wonders whether Montagu's brother is not desirous of his standing again. He regrets that Montagu has not acted more systematically with the Party and especially the absence of cordiality betweeh him and Disraeli. He is sorry he must decline to interfere.
