TitleAffidavit William Clotton, Buckland, Surrey, surveyor swears that he has known the estate at Alc. cum W. which formerly belonged to the late Lord Gwydir for 35 years and that before its sale c. 1808 he managed it.
DescriptionAnd he says that after the Alc. Inclosure Act he made a claim for the said Lord Gwydir of certain freehold and copyhold property there, 490a. And in 1808 he had in his possession a rent book of said estates beginning in 1755 and in the handwriting of Peter Birrell, late of Beckenham, Kent, Esq. father of the late Lord Gwydir. And believes estates belonged to Gwydir family from 1755 (except a copyhold cottage and site of a windmill in Weston) and believes that the late Lord Gwydir was the only son of the said late Peter Burrell. And believes that his father, Wm. Clotton of Cuckfield, Sussex, surveyor, had for many years previous to him been landsteward of said Lord Gwydir and manager of said estates at Alc.
