Annual Meetings of the Parish Council, held in April each year, are minuted. The Chairman was elected for the following year, and reports read from the Lighting Committee, the Allotments Committee, the Footpaths Committee, The Trustees of the Poors Estate and the Public Works Fund. From the first year, parish officers, including Parish Constables and Overseers were appointed for the following year, and in 1901 an Assistant Overseer and a Clerk to the Parish Council were appointed.

Minutes of meetings of the elected councillors from both St Andrew’s Ward and St John’s Ward discussed the day-to-day running of the parish. Meetings were held 6 to 8 times a year, in the (St Andrew’s) Schoolroom, the Mission Room, Rock Road or the St John’s Schoolroom. The parish council minutes record discussions about the state of road, allotments, bills to be settled, the need for Cambridge Water Company to supply additional hydrants and other water and sewage concerns, and street lighting.

In 1894 and 1895 there were negotiations with the Vicar about the Parish Inclosure Grant and other books and documents in his care, which the Parish Council had become entitled to hold under the Local Government Act 1894. A special meeting was held about this matter in 1895. In April 1896 the Chairman reported he now has the Inclosure award, and there is no later discussion of the matter.

In 1895, in view of the increasing numbers of electors in St John’s Ward, the Councillors petitioned Cambridge County Council to allot a polling station in the ward.
