DescriptionValuations conducted by the Overseers of the Poor, with amendments by the Assessment Committee for all rateable properties and land in the parishes of Cambridge and Cambridge Without. Each property is given a consecutive numerical reference, details of present assessment (not completed;) the name of the occupier; the name of the owner; a description of the property; a location or situation of the property; a gross estimated rental, rateable value of agricultural land; rateable value of buildings by the Overseers of the Poor; and any amendments made by the Assessment Committee. College and University properties are often rated at the beginning of the volume then by areas of the town beginning with St Giles. Following the 1929 Local Government Act, which dissolved Boards of Guardians, their powers and responsibilities were transferred to Local Authorities. For valuation lists from 1929 see CB/2/7.
