TitleA list of excused rates, 1868-69
DescriptionThis list of quarterly excused rates provide the name of the person assessed, their residence, the rateable value, rate made for successive quarters and a total. Each list of people to be excused rates is signed by the churchwarden and overseers of the poor and referred to two justices of the peace for the Borough for a decision. Each person on the list is excused the rate due to their inability to pay due to poverty. Names of those excused include: Alfred Altwood, of Falcon Yard; Edward Sayer, of Falcon Yard; Eliza Lanham of Falcon Yard; Mary Ann Bridgeman of Fields Court; James Ogram of Fields Court; Mary Ann Deer of Fields Court; Martha Galer of Fields Court; Eliza Reeder or Emmanuel Street; Elizabeth Scarr of Orchard Street; Henry Clements of Orchard Street; Emma Smith of Downing Court; Walter George Ginn of Downing Court; Hannah Plummer of Downing Court; Charles Smith of Downing Court; Sarah Richardson of Downing Place; Rebecca Thompson of Blue Lion Yard; Mary Clements of Blue Lion Yard; Emma Golding of St Andrew's Court; Frederick Fenton of St Andrew's Court; Mary Ann Sadler of St Andrew's Court; Sarah Dawkins of St Andrew's Court.
