DescriptionThese volumes contain details of the receipt of payments arranged by purpose of payment, for example: expense of the Borough Rate account arranged by parish; salaries; expenses of the Corn Exchange, the Guildhall, the Gaol, and the Free Library; the removal of convicts and expenses from prosecutions; rent on the free farm; interest and income tax; the Lunatic Asylum rate; land tax and loans; market tolls; and police payments. The date of each receipt issued, the nature of the expense and the value are recorded in individual columns.
