| Description | Index cards to inspections of building works (predominantly sewage and drainage works) being conducted in the City arranged alphabetically by street name. Each card includes a permit, plan or book number. Plan numbers can often be traced to Building Byelaw plans found catalogued as CB/2/SE/3/9. Details recorded include the address where works are taking place, names of the owner and builder, notice of starting date, notice from the Medical Officer of Health, works start date, dates of visits (to site by the building inspector or surveyor), description of work done, tests if any carried out (usually water and smoke), note to the Medical Officer of Health and the signature of the inspector. Sketches of work undertaken are often recorded on the rear of cards. The card is usually signed completed with a date when works are finalised. Agreements and contracts relating to the erection of some of the properties can be found in the Corporation Leasebooks. Individual drainage agreements can be found at CB/2/CL/15/25-26. |
