TitleTechnical: Engineering
DescriptionThe technical engineering section was responsible for its own estimates, specifications, bills of quantities and contract documentation . Works were executed both by contract and direct labour.

The work of the engineering section supervised by the Chief Assistant Engineer waas subdivided into major subsections:

1. Highways (including public lighting), housing estates (preliminary site preparation and site works) and construction and maintenance works for the Cam Conservators

2. Main drainage including Hobson's Conduits Trust infastructure

3. Sewage disposal

The Senior Assistant Engineer also undertook the inspection of deposited plans, administration of the New Streets Act and supervision of the labour force undertaking maintenance works for the Cam Conservators. The supervison of all public lighting, including the maintenance of associated records was also the reponsibility of the engineering section.
