DescriptionThis file comprises a printed copy of a report of Dr S Monckton Copeman on an outbreak of enteric fever at Fulbourn Asylum, with special reference to the risk of pollution of underground water supplies by the sewage of the asylum, Feb 1906; notes by John C Thresh on criticisms within Dr Copeman's report, Feb 1907; published remarks on Dr Thresh's scheme for sewage disposal at the asylum by the Medical Officer of Health and the Borough Engineer, Jan 1907; an agenda for the report to be discussed at a meeting of the Council, May 1907; statements by the Council and University Senate relating to the alternative sewage system proposed by the Dr Thresh, 1907; correspondence between the clerk to the asylum visitors and the town clerk, 1906-1907; a printed response by Fulbourn Parish Council to Rector's leaflets on the unsanitary condition of the village; a copy of a report by the Public Health Committee submitted to a special meeting of the council, May 1906; reprinted article from the Cambridge Chronicle on the Asylum Sewage Scheme, a copy of a leaflet by the Rector of Fulbourn on the alleged pollution of water by the sewage of Fulbourn village; transcript of shorthand notes of a conference held at the Guildhall 31 May 1907; and a draft copy of a local inquiry by the Local Government Board with reference to the question of securing from contamination the supply of water furnished by the Cambridge Waterworks Company, 18 Feb 1906.
