DescriptionThe town planning committee met to discuss and take action on the extension of the Borough boundary and the effect this had on housing, paving and services in the Borough. They discussed new house building; new roads and services plus extensions to existing roads and services; tenders for works; acquisition of new land; appointment of members of the committee; the process for applying for a town planning scheme; the appointment and pay of officers and new bye-laws and regulations.

The Housing Committee met monthly to discuss and resolve issues relating to corporation housing. This included reports of the Selection Committee into the selection of tenants; arrears of rental payments; notices to quit tenancies; the provision of allotments for estates; the construction of paths, sewers and services for new housing; tenders for the erection of new housing including through private finance; the purchase of housing stock and financing purchases; the provision of social housing under various Housing Acts; and the maintenance of properties.
