TitleFinancial adjustment case papers for claim by Chesterton Rural District Council for compensation following the incorporation of parts of Chesterton, Grantchester, Trumpington, and Cherry Hinton into the Borough of Cambridge
DescriptionFollowing the expansion of the Borough boundary with the act confirming certain provisional orders of the Local Government Board relating to Cambridge and Southport in December 1911 an arbitration process began to reach a financial settlement between Chesterton Rural District Council and Cambridge Borough. This series comprises notes on comparative rates due to the County, CRDC and the Corporation before and after the boundary change with their relative expenses and savings; surveyors reports, reports by the Medical Officer of Health and report of the Joint Select Committee of the Houses of Parliament; newspaper articles on the cases of both parties; collected papers on financial settlements reached in other Boroughs; brief presenting the case of the Corporation and opinions of counsel; plus printed proceedings of the arbitration case.
