TitleAdministration: Charity Minutes
DescriptionGeneral Meetings of the Governors were initially held quarterly, later becoming yearly. Appointments of new governors were agreed, appointments of officers such as Clerk, Treasurer and inspector of properties were agreed including terms of salary, surities and duties. Audited accounts were presented and reports on the conditions of properties including tenancy arrangements and building works required were recorded. Copy correspondence or individual reports are often included relating to individual scholars and apprentices or changes to the provisions of the charity scheme. Significant changes to the Scheme are often discussed at Special meetings or meetings of the Sub-Committee as to the amendment of the Charity Scheme.

Applications for apprenticeship and discussions of charitable expenditure took place at separate meetings of the Town and University Governors, held twice yearly. These meetings record the names of apprentices appyling for support, details of their parents, where they were born, the master, trade and term of the apprenticeship, and the value of the award made to them.
Following the establishment of the Education Award in 1905 details of pupils applying for scholarships are recorded including the schools they attended and their exam score.

From 1897 meetings of the Governors of Hobson's Charity record all the above activities and separate meetings of Town and University Governors cease. From 1905 the meetings are structured under headings, Educational, Non-Educational and General. A form that is reflected in the yearly accounts.
