TitlePlacita Rolls of the Court of the Town of Cambridge . (18 items - cf CBD, p.2) 22-23 Edw I, 7-9 Edw II
Description1-17) Plea (placita) rolls of town court for 22-23 Edw I [6 October 1294-14 September 1295]. 17 separate membranes, flattened and folded. Numbered probably by Palmer. 18) Plea (placita) roll for 7-9 Edw II [1314-1316]. 4 members formerly flattened and folded but reinstated as a single roll when repaired in the 1990s. The early/mid 19th century label (on a playing card) states there are 22 items. The 17 of Edw I include the first and last described in Cambridge Borough Documents p.1, so if any has been lost it would have to be from the Edw II series. More probably the 22nd referred to is what is now an attachment sewn to the edge of membrane 1 of X/94/18. (Printed reference: I.67, 74. Partly published in Cambridge Borough Documents, i, 1-10). There are criminal case entries on the dorse of several, including hangings on 6, 9, 11 and 13.
