DescriptionPrinted reference: extracts re plate in Cambridge Borough Documents, i, 76-7. Cf also Hist. MSS Commission 1st Report (1874), opp. pp. 99-100. Typed index among Cooper papers. The name goes back to 1575 at least (see Common Day Book 1564-77, vol 6, pp. 195-6). Negative microfilm of Corporation Cross Book folios 14-18, 47r in box of negatives. Important records were copied into the Cross Book from the fourteenth century onwards, becoming a register of the admission of freemen who controlled the corporation, a record continued separately from 1758 onward.
