Title"Papers Relating to the Chancery Suit as to £1500 Advanced by the Board to the Promoters of the Middle Level Drainage [Bill]'
DescriptionBundle of [legal papers] concerning William Lee and Charles Culledge's claim that the Bedford Level Corporation advanced £1,500 from their rates and taxes to John Fryer, George Pryme and Hugh Robert Evans, so that they could make an application for an Act of Parliament for powers to build a new cut to improve the drainage of certain parts of the Middle Level. The plaintiffs argue that the Corporation should not have advanced their rates and taxes, and that the promoters have vested interests in the proposed new cut. This case was heard in the Court of Chancery on 14 March 1844. Contains a [statement] of the case; a sub-poena for Hugh Robert Evans and the Corporation to appear and answer the case against them; and correspondence.
