DescriptionBundle of legal papers concerning James Thornton's claim against the Bedford Level Corporation. James Thornton was contracted to build a coffer dam and a temporary bridge at Denver Sluice, but was discharged before the work was completed. This case was heard in the Court of Common Pleas. Contains the declarations of the plaintiff; the plea of the defendants, together with the opinion of Mr Peacock about the case. This bundle is labelled "Corporation against Thornton: Copies of Declaration and Pleas, 1839".
