DescriptionBundle of legal papers concerning a claim that the Duke of Bedford, Francis Pemberton, George Keate, Edward Partheriche, John Brownell, William Cole and Humphrey Smith were not legally elected at the 1728 Whitsun meeting. This case was heard in the Court of the King's Bench in 1729. Contains legal briefs for the defendants; the affidavits of William Plaxton, Thomas Dixon, William Underwood, Joseph Kettle, John Scrymshere, Robert Lightfoot, Thomas Roane, David Greenhill, Edward Adams and John Swaile; and further papers (in Latin) recording the progress of the case.
