TitlePetition of Several Owners of Land in Whittlesey
DescriptionThe petitioners own lands in Bassenhally and Stonald Fields, from which earth is sometimes taken to repair the Corporation banks. They usually receive £20 per acre, but report that it often takes several years to be paid for their losses. They represent that their land is now much improved, and they ask the Bedford Level Corporation's officer to give notice whenever land is wanted in the future and for a reasonable price to be offered for earth taken. Fourteen signatories.
