TitlePetition of Several Commissioners for Draining 5,000 Acres of Land in Newborough, or Borough Fen Common
DescriptionThe petitioners used to exercise and enjoy the privilege of taking in water from the River Welland through a tunnel laid under the Peakirk Bank, but have taken water out of the Folly River through a brick tunnel under Folly Bank since 1814. They report that the Deeping Fen Adventurers have threatened them with legal action unless they stop up the tunnel in the Folly Bank. They ask for permission to revert to using the tunnel under the Peakirk Bank as they did before. Sixteen signatories. Also contains five letters from [William] Lawrence about the tunnel, a list of those persons who will enter into a security with the Corporation, and a draft notice.
