DescriptionThe memorialists report that they have spent £22,649 repairing the Barrier Bank since 1810, as the soil is too light and porous. They ask for permission to build a navigable drain across the [Ouse] Washes, so that they can obtain heavy earth and silt from the Hundred Foot River and gault from Branghill Pits.
