DescriptionTranscript: Oliver Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland & Ireland the Dominions thereto belonging To all to whom theis presents shall come Greeting Whereas at the Generall Gaole delivery for our County of Huntingdon holden at the towne of Huntingdon in the said County on Friday the thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred fiftie & six before Oliver St John Cheife Justice of the Com[m]on Bench & Edward Atkyns one of the Justices of the Com[m]on Bench Justices assigned to deliver the Gaole of the said County of the prisoners therein being by the oaths of honest & lawful men of the said county empanelled & sworn to inquire for us & the Body of the said County It was presented that Justinian Barrowe late of Upwood in the County of Huntingdon gentleman the six and twentieth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and fiftie six between the houres of ten & twelve in the night of the same day the mansion house of Stephen Phesant Esquire with force & armes at Upwood aforesaid in the County of Huntingdon aforesaid & feloniously and burglarly did breake & enter & one picture case of Gould of the value of ten pounds, two suites of Damaske Linen of the value of twenty pounds, five parclells of Linen of the value of fifty pounds, one scarlet mantle of the value of five pounds, one silke mantle of the value of five pound one scarlet petticoate of the value of forty shillings, one horsmans coat of the value of twenty shillings, foure ounces of plate of the value of four score pounds & one hawking bagg of the value of twelve pence, two scarfs of the value of twenty shillings, one belt of the value of five shillings, one shirt of the value of five shillings and fiftie pounds in money numbred of the goods chattels & money of the said Stephen Phesant then & there in the same mansion house being found then and there feloniously & burglarly did steale take & carry away against the publique peace And whereas the said Generall Gaole delivery holden for the said County of Huntingdon at the Towne of Huntingdon aforesaid the said Justinian Barrowe was found guiltie of the felony & burglary aforesaid & thereupon had judgement to dye for the same according to the laws As by the said Indictment & proceedings against him the said Justinian Barrowe remaining of record may more fully appeare Now forasmuch as We have received a Certificate from serverall persons of integrity on the behalfe of the said Justinian Barrowe certifying us concerning his former Civill course of life & their hopes of his amendment for the future And the said Justinian Barrowe having humbly besought us for Our gracious pardon unto him of his said offence & of all proceedings thereupon had against him know yee therefore that wee being moved with pitty & compassion towards the said Justinian Barrowe of Our especial grace certaine knowledge & mere motion Have pardoned remitted & released by theis presents for Us & our successors Doe pardon remitt and release unto the said Justinian Barrowe late of Upwood in the County of Huntingdon gentleman or by whatsoever other name or surname or addition name or surname place or places hee the said Justinian Barrowe is or was called or knowne the aforesaid felony & burglary in the Indictment aforesaid specified by him the said Justinian Barrowe either by himself alone or together with any other person whatsoever done committed or perpetuated And all & all manner of offences transgressions & misdemeanours whatsoever in anywise touching or concerning the aforesaid felony & burglary in the Indictment aforesaid mentioned & all Accesseries of the same And all Flight & Flights thereupon made and All & singular indictments con…. Judgements condemnations Executions penalties paines of death corporal punishments Imprisonments & all other paines and penalties whatsoever of for & concerning the aforesaid felony & burglary And alsoe all & singular V------- against him the said Justinian Barrowe by reason or occasion of the p----- have beene promulged or hereafter shallbee promulged And all & all manner of Suites quarrells Impertuitous & demands whatsoever which wee or our successors against him the said Justinian Barrowe by reason of the premisses or any of them have or may have And the suite of the peace which to us appertaineth or which ought to appertaine to us or our successors against him the said Justinian Barrowe by reason of the premises or any of them & our firm peace wee doe to him give & grant by theis presents Willing that the said Justinian Barrowe by any the Judges Justices Sheriffs Escheators Bayliffs or other officers or Ministers of us or our successors for or by reason of the premises or any of them shall not hereafter bee molested troubled or in any wise disquieted Soe as nevertheless hee shall stand right in our court if any against him will speake concerning the premises or any of them And further of our more ample grace certaine Knowledge meere motion Wee will by theis presents for us and our successors Doe grant to the said Justinian Barrowe That this our present pardon & all and singular things therein contained shall stand & bee firme valid good sufficient and effectuall in lawe for the benefit & advantage of him the said Justinian Barrowe & shall not hereafter bee made void but shallbee in due manner allowed by all & singular Judges Justices Officers & Ministers whatsoever of us & our successors whom it shall or may concerne Although the said Justinian Barrowe doe not find good & sufficient security according to the forme & effect of a certain Act of Parliament made in the parliament held at Westminster in the tenth yeare of the raigne of Edward the Third late King of England for his good behaviour from henceforth towards us & our successors and all the people And nothwithstanding any defect or defects whatsoever in theis presents contained In witness where of &c witness &c
