TitleTransfer of probate records to district courts
DescriptionIn 1858 church courts ceased to have powers to prove the probate of a will, and this authority passed to the civil courts. As part of the process of transferring authority, requisitions to transfer records with schedules of those records were compiled and form this series. The requisitions were authorised by Augustus Frederic Bayford, registrar of the court of probate, and were sent to Charles Margetts, registrar of the archdeaconry.
